ABS sheet
Generally, among ABS sheet, ABS plastic sheet is used on dashboard, wheel cover and body parts due to its strength, low temperature resistance and rough surface that is not easily scratched. The price of ABS sheet is relatively cheap and usually falls somewhere between polypropylene and polycarbonate. ABS sheet is usually not used in high heat conditions due to its low melting resistance. The disadvantages of polyacrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS sheet) include the following:
- Resistance to all kinds of solvents is weak
- UV resistance is poor unless coated and protected
- Maximum continuous use temperature up to approximately 70°C (160°F)
- Has poor impact and pressure tolerance
- High resistance to friction and wear
ABS sheet has a low melting point which makes it easy to use in injection molding and 3D printing process. It also has high tensile strength and is very resistant to physical shocks and chemical corrosion, which makes the prepared plastic able to withstand heavy use and adverse environmental conditions.

Is ABS sheet stronger than PVC?
PVC is more flexible than ABS sheet but ABS sheet is stronger and more impact resistant. ABS plastic sheet works better in handling extremely cold temperatures but can be damaged by exposure to direct sunlight. In most North American markets, the two types are priced similarly.
ABS sheet in food and packaging industry
This thermoplastic material has a very good resistance to chemicals. ABS sheets are considered a thermoplastic and can be safe for use in food processing. ABS plastic remains rigid even at low temperatures. It is also available in fireproof, heat resistant and flexible grades.
ABS plastic quality compared to its price
ABS sheet is a great plastic product to use because it is one of the most affordable plastics for its quality and is resistant to moderate impacts and common chemicals. It is also relatively harmless as its plastic material does not contain any known carcinogens.
ABS has good impact resistance at room temperature and in special grades at temperatures lower than (40 degrees Celsius). ABS sheet is suitable for some outdoor use. Excessive exposure to the sun may change the shape and color and reduce the durability and overall appearance of the product. In such cases, the degree of protection against ultraviolet rays is more appropriate.
